Each month I bring you my top five picks of the best design and typography posts from around the web. Here are this months picks. Enjoy.
Us graphic designers are a creative bunch, and every now and again one of us comes up with something truly original. Graphic designer Michael Allen’s handy work with the razor has resulted in the creation of a font called Alphabeard. Individual letters were carved out of real life beards, photographed and then digitally transformed into a complete alphabet. Michael said that “many beards were sacrificed to complete this project.” Great work!
Once upon a time it was the Swiss Design Annual we used to turn to for design inspiration each year. However, nowadays it’s the digital world. Websites such as Behance offer us all the inspiration we need 365 days a year. Problem is, there are over 30 million portfolios and finding top quality ones can be very time consuming. Good news though, the folks at creativebloq.com have done the hard yards for us and selected 25 of the best. Thanks guys.
It’s great to watch another designer’s approach to a big project. This great video shows Alex Fowkes’ complete process from conception to installation of a wall size typographic mural he created for Sony music. Cool stuff.
Okay, this has blown up the weird scale. It’s the kind of thing typographic nightmares are made of! Enough said. Go look for yourself…
This is my favourite post of the month. I can’t explain how good these posters are. French designer Zaven Najjar set himself the task of redesigning a classic rap music poster everyday for 100 days. The link above showcases some of the best, or you can see the entire selection here. Go check them out. Awesome!
